Rehabilitation - Behaviour Modification

Behavioural Immersion Programme

Behavioural issues rarely exist in isolation. They can be influenced by genetics, fulfilment, environment, reinforcement history, arousal, health, handling and household structure.

The Behavioural Immersion Programme gives us the time and structure to work with the whole dog. Through deliberate daily routines, controlled exposure, practical training and clear communication, we develop behaviour that can transfer into everyday life.

This is intensive behavioural rehabilitation, providing the time, structure and consistency needed to create meaningful change, with owner transition built into the process.

Who it is for

Complex behaviour that needs intensive structure

Suitability is determined through a Behavioural Audit. The programme may be recommended for dogs experiencing any (or all) of the behaviours listed below:

Aggression or severe reactivity

Behaviour involving significant conflict, escalation or risk surrounding people, dogs or other animals.

Predation or persistent chasing

High prey drive, livestock chasing, movement fixation or behaviour deemed to be unsafe outdoors.

Environmental reactivity

Dogs that become difficult to manage in busy or stimulating environments, with behaviour deteriorating around people, dogs, movement, noise or other everyday triggers.

Over-arousal & poor self-regulation

Dogs that struggle to settle, regulate arousal or maintain behavioural control when excited, frustrated or under pressure.

Resource guarding & in-home conflict

Resource guarding, tension between dogs, conflict around people or possessions, and other challenging behaviours occurring within the home.

When previous training hasn’t worked

For dogs where previous training has not created the reliable, lasting behavioural change needed in everyday life.

Immersion in practice

Structured days. Deliberate outcomes.

No two dogs follow an identical plan. The structure remains consistent while the rehabilitation is tailored to the dog's behavioural profile, thresholds and progress.

Structured daily living

Clear routines, calm transitions, rest, boundaries and reliable household expectations.

Controlled exposure

Carefully planned work around relevant environments, triggers and levels of pressure.

Practical skill building

Engagement, lead work, recall, impulse control and obedience developed for everyday use.

Real-world reliability

Behaviour is tested and strengthened beyond quiet training environments wherever appropriate.

Frequently asked questions

Before immersion is recommended

How long does the Behavioural Immersion Programme last?

Programme length is determined by the individual dog and the behaviours being addressed. Our programmes typically begin at 14 days, with longer periods recommended where the case requires more time and structure.

Can I book a Behavioural Immersion Programme directly?

No. Every dog must complete a Behavioural Audit first. This allows us to assess your dog, understand the behaviours you’re experiencing and determine whether immersion is the right option for them.

Where will my dog live during the programme?

Your dog stays in a home environment with their trainer and becomes part of their structured daily routine. Training takes place across appropriate real-world environments rather than being limited to a single training setting.

Will my dog’s behaviour be fixed when they come home?

Behavioural rehabilitation doesn’t come with a guarantee that a dog will return home permanently “fixed”. We put intensive work into your dog during the programme, but maintaining and progressing that work requires consistency from you once they return home. Your handover will give you the practical skills, structure and guidance needed to continue what we have established.

What support do I get when my dog comes home?

You’ll receive a comprehensive handover explaining the training, handling, routines and priorities established during the programme. WhatsApp support is also available following your dog’s return home for guidance relating to the work completed during their programme.
