Join Canine UK
Build your practice.Help raise the standard.
Canine UK is building a carefully selected network of skilled trainers and behavioural professionals, united by professional standards, real-world capability and a commitment to better outcomes for dogs and owners.
More than a name on a map
A professional network built with purpose.
Canine UK is being built as a national and international network of skilled canine professionals, united by professional standards, accountability and a commitment to effective, welfare-conscious practice.
We are looking for professionals with practical ability, sound judgement and the confidence to think critically. People committed to developing their knowledge, challenging their own thinking and contributing to a wider professional team.
Canine UK is not a directory and joining is not automatic. Every application is considered individually against the standards, capability and professional integrity the Canine UK name represents.
Who we are looking for
People who take the work seriously.
There is no single route to becoming an exceptional canine professional. We consider the whole person: practical experience, education, professional judgement, values, capability and readiness to represent the Canine UK standard.
Welfare-centred judgement
Sound decisions that consider the individual dog, the people involved, the circumstances of the case and the consequences of intervention.
Professional communication
Clear, honest and realistic communication with owners, without exaggeration, false promises or guesswork.
Real-world capability
The practical ability to deliver training and behavioural change that transfers beyond controlled environments and into everyday life.
Continued professional development
A commitment to continued learning, critical thinking and the ongoing development of professional practice.
Professional collaboration
The independence to manage your own work alongside the willingness to collaborate, contribute, ask questions and share professional knowledge.
Professional readiness
Relevant experience, education, appropriate insurance and responsible professional practice, assessed individually as part of our selection process.

The Canine UK Standard
Growth without compromise.
We are not looking to grow as quickly as possible. We are looking to grow with the right people.
We want Canine UK to reach more owners, support more professionals and contribute to raising standards across canine training, behaviour and welfare.
That means growing deliberately, while protecting the standards, accountability and professional integrity our name represents.
Applications are assessed. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance. Every application is considered individually. We assess professional history, practical experience, insurance, training approach, location and alignment with Canine UK standards and values before discussing a potential pathway forward.

Across the UK and beyond
Local knowledge. Shared standards.

We also welcome applications from suitably experienced professionals outside the UK as the wider Canine UK vision develops. Geography matters, but professional quality, standards and alignment come first.
Frequently asked questions
Before you apply.
Do I need to run an established training business?
Not necessarily. We are interested in professional capability, experience, judgement and potential rather than simply how long you have been trading.
We welcome applications from established professionals, as well as experienced trainers who are ready to take the next step in their professional development.
Every application is considered individually.
Trainer Qualification Pathway
At Canine UK, we recognise that great trainers come from a variety of backgrounds, and formal qualifications are not a requirement when first joining the team.
However, we are committed to maintaining high professional standards and supporting the ongoing development of our trainers.
Our qualification pathway is as follows:
- Joining the Team: Trainers can join without a formal qualification, provided they demonstrate the appropriate skills, knowledge, experience and willingness to learn.
- Initial Development: Once on board, trainers will receive guidance and support to identify a suitable, recognised qualification relevant to their role.
- Working Towards Qualification: All trainers are required to actively work towards an agreed qualification as part of their professional development.
- Ongoing Progress: Trainers are expected to demonstrate consistent progress towards achieving their qualification, alongside continuing to develop their practical skills and knowledge.
- Achieving Qualification: The ultimate expectation is for trainers to successfully complete their agreed qualification, helping maintain consistent professional standards across the Canine UK team.
Our approach is simple: you do not need to be qualified to join us, but you must be committed to becoming qualified as part of your journey with Canine UK.
Can I keep my existing business or brand?
This will depend on the proposed pathway and will be discussed individually.
Canine UK is building a recognisable national professional identity, so anyone working under the Canine UK name will be expected to operate within agreed brand, professional and operational standards.
We are happy to discuss how an existing business or professional identity could fit within that structure.
Are leads or exclusive territories guaranteed?
No.
Canine UK is designed to create professional infrastructure, national visibility, shared standards and opportunities for growth, but we do not guarantee a particular volume of enquiries or exclusive geographical territories.
More than one Canine UK professional may operate within the same region where there is sufficient demand and the right professionals are in place.
Is the network limited to the UK?
Our immediate focus is building a strong professional network throughout the UK.
However, the longer-term Canine UK vision extends beyond geographical boundaries, and we welcome applications from suitably experienced professionals outside the UK.
Wherever someone is based, professional quality, standards and alignment come first.
What happens after I submit my application?
Your application will be reviewed by the Canine UK team.
If we believe there may be a suitable fit, we will contact you for an initial conversation before progressing through our professional and, where appropriate, practical review process.
Submitting an application does not guarantee progression or acceptance.
