01 · The presenting picture
Walks involved barking, pulling and lunging. A reported encounter included grabbing another dog's tail, and there had also been conflict with a household dog.
Recall became unreliable around distraction. Excitement, access to toys and shared resting arrangements added further management questions at home.
02 · What the audit identified
Bailey showed avoidance around dogs during the assessment and walked alongside a suitable dog without a direct aggressive response. Those observations helped shape the plan, but did not cancel the earlier incidents or establish safety with unfamiliar dogs.
03 · The Canine UK strategy
- Provide separate, predictable resting spaces and manage valuable items.
- Teach shared walking, recall and release cues in manageable environments.
- Build controlled exposure around suitable dogs, allowing distance and recovery.
04 · Recommended pathway
- The audit recommended foundation work followed by professional recall and control training, with residential support discussed as an alternative.
- No follow up record in the reviewed sources confirms later attendance, reliable recall or a completed rehabilitation outcome.
05 · Owner transfer and maintenance
Owners were asked to use the same cues and boundaries, practise complete recalls with physical backup and record reactions rather than judge progress from a single quiet walk.
