01 · The presenting picture
The history described pulling, limited lead manners and mouthing, despite previous classes and several equipment approaches. A sit was familiar, but the foundations were not transferring consistently into daily life.
At the visit, excited greeting and mouthing were observed. The effect of pulling varied between handlers, making owner consistency an important part of the picture.
02 · What the audit identified
On returning home, the assessor recorded two attempted nips during affection. That observation qualified the earlier history of no nips; it could not be lost behind a general description of friendliness. Barking at arrivals and reunion excitement also needed attention.
03 · The Canine UK strategy
- Build clearer engagement and lead communication.
- Practise calm responses during greetings and household activity.
- Use consistent cues and expectations across handlers.
- Include manageable mental activity and supported owner practice.
04 · Recommended pathway
- The report proposed individual foundation work, followed by owner involvement and controlled practice around visitors and different settings.
- No later record establishes attendance, improvement in handling or resolution of the attempted nipping.
05 · Owner transfer and maintenance
The proposed owner work focused on repeating the same communication and practising calm interaction in ordinary routines. The assessment treated what happened at home as relevant to the training plan.
