01 · The presenting picture
The history described pulling, limited confidence and fearful reactions around unfamiliar dogs. Bruce was reported to be comfortable with people and a familiar household dog.
He settled in the crate before greeting the assessor. During the walking assessment, intermittent pulling and an equipment fit issue were noted.
02 · What the audit identified
No other dogs were encountered on that walk, so the reported dog reactivity was not directly tested or observed. Recall was described as good in the history but was not demonstrated. The assessment therefore supported a foundation plan without claiming the presenting difficulty had disappeared.
03 · The Canine UK strategy
- Develop engagement and clear lead communication.
- Build confidence in manageable environments.
- Review handling and equipment as part of the individual plan.
- Progress towards controlled distractions and supported owner practice.
04 · Recommended pathway
- The proposed pathway began with individual trainer work before transferring the handling to the owners.
- The source does not establish that these sessions occurred or provide a later measure of Bruce's reactions around dogs.
05 · Owner transfer and maintenance
The owner role was to carry consistent cues, timing and manageable practice into ordinary walks. Further progression depended on seeing how Bruce responded when the relevant distractions were actually present.
