01 · The presenting picture

The assessment recorded repeated bites to adults, resource guarding and redirection towards other dogs when arousal rose.

Her behaviour around a child made secure separation an immediate priority, although no bite to the child was reported.

02 · What the audit identified

Doris appeared nervous and quiet in the assessment setting. That presentation did not remove the risks reported at home or establish that she was safe in those situations.

03 · The Canine UK strategy

  • Maintain secure separation and planned routes around visitors, children and other dogs.
  • Introduce comfortable rest and confinement gradually.
  • Develop clear markers, movement and disengagement in manageable settings.
  • Build one household management plan and assess each dog individually.

04 · Current stage

  • James confirms that Doris is in active rehabilitation.
  • A completed handover or later outcome is not recorded in the reviewed evidence. Progress must be assessed alongside the household's ability to maintain safety.

05 · Owner transfer and maintenance

Owner transfer needs practical rehearsal of separation, rest, feeding, guarding management and early recognition of rising arousal.

Privacy and professional context

Real work, shared responsibly.

Owner names, addresses, contact information and identifying household details have been removed. Health observations are not veterinary diagnoses and are included only where they materially affected the training decision.

Every dog is an individual. These cases explain Canine UK's reasoning and process; they do not promise the same result for another dog.
