01 · The presenting picture

The assessment described reactions to dogs, people, loud traffic and particular objects, alongside fixation and inconsistent recall.

There was reported contact with other dogs, while no previous bite to a person was recorded in this assessment.

02 · What the audit identified

During the walk Isla showed strong fixation and fearful responses. Her behaviour with the visiting trainer differed from the owners' usual expectations, showing the importance of assessing context rather than assuming one presentation tells the whole story.

03 · The Canine UK strategy

  • Rebuild engagement and lead foundations in low distraction settings.
  • Use clear, consistent cues and reward manageable responses.
  • Increase environmental difficulty gradually.
  • Teach the owners the handling needed to maintain control and create space.

04 · Rehabilitation outcome

  • The assessment proposed individual training, beginning with foundations and progressing towards relevant environments.
  • James confirms Isla's rehabilitation outcome. No additional outcome measurements are claimed here.

05 · Owner transfer and maintenance

Owner work centred on consistent handling, short practice sessions and controlled exposure at a level Isla could manage.
