01 · The presenting picture

The owners wanted reliable recall, calmer greetings and consistent responses on walks. Some familiar cues were already present, but handling and expectations varied.

The report did not describe an established aggression or bite history. Play, activity, rest and the responsibilities of handling a growing dog were therefore considered together.

02 · What the audit identified

The audit focused on making existing skills dependable before distractions increased. Reported skin and ear concerns also mattered when planning daily care and rewards, without establishing a behavioural diagnosis.

03 · The Canine UK strategy

  • Use shared cues for walking, recall, settling and release.
  • Practise complete recalls with physical backup before expanding freedom.
  • Balance suitable activity and structured play with calm rest.
  • Keep responsibility for control with capable adults.

04 · Recommended pathway

  • The proposed pathway combined foundation practice, follow up support and professional recall training where appropriate.
  • This case records an assessment and recommended pathway. It does not present those recommendations as a completed training outcome.

05 · Owner transfer and maintenance

Owners would keep greetings manageable, practise calm observation and record which cues Luna could follow in different settings. Consistency between handlers was part of the intervention, not an optional extra.
