01 · The presenting picture

The assessment described pulling, barking and lunging around people and dogs, unreliable recall and difficulty settling. Molly and Willow could redirect towards each other when excitement rose.

Food aggression and limping after exercise were reported for Molly. Those individual concerns belonged alongside the shared walking picture.

02 · What the audit identified

During the visit, both dogs were highly excited, jumped around and mouthed their owners. On the joint walk, pulling and redirection made calm handling difficult. Molly demonstrated a sit, but the assessment identified a need for more consistent foundations.

03 · The Canine UK strategy

  • Build engagement, clear cues and manageable lead work.
  • Practise calm responses around controlled distractions.
  • Transfer the handling system to the owners.
  • Develop confidence through work apart from Willow.

04 · Observed progress

  • The joint KickStart handover reported improved lead skills, obedience and reduced reactivity, with owners practising individual and combined handling.
  • These were shared handover observations, not separately measured results for Molly. A small reaction remained and further individual confidence work was advised.

05 · Owner transfer and maintenance

The handover asked the owners to maintain consistent cues, short practice and appropriate recall backup, while helping each dog work more comfortably without relying on the other.
