01 · The presenting picture

The history described strong pulling, jumping, whining and difficulty regulating excitement. Raven was reported to be comfortable with people and dogs, with some recall already established.

Food, tug toys and balls offered potential ways to build engagement, but the everyday handling picture still needed attention.

02 · What the audit identified

Raven greeted the assessor in a friendly way but jumped and struggled to settle. Some whining was heard during separation within the home. The trainer also identified an equipment fit issue and opportunities to improve guidance, timing and reward when Raven looked back towards the handler.

03 · The Canine UK strategy

  • Review equipment fit and practical handling.
  • Build engagement and clearer lead communication.
  • Practise calm responses and familiar cues.
  • Progress towards controlled distractions with owner involvement.

04 · Recommended pathway

  • The report proposed individual foundation work to improve walking, engagement and consistency.
  • It does not document completed sessions, later progress or a lasting change in settling and lead behaviour.

05 · Owner transfer and maintenance

The proposed owner work was to make cues and reward timing more consistent, practise in manageable settings and balance purposeful activity with rest. The assessment treated calm handling as part of the learning process.
