01 · The presenting picture
The programme record described work on pulling, fixation, lunging and barking, alongside core commands and responses around distraction.
The handover also addressed settling, routine and the need to use the same communication across different people and environments.
02 · What the audit identified
The practical debrief recorded work around everyday roads, paths, shops and park settings. It identified owner timing, lead tension, realistic expectations and confidence around dogs as continuing areas for attention.
03 · The Canine UK strategy
- Use clear cues for recall, close walking and maintained positions.
- Practise around manageable people, dog and traffic distractions.
- Keep sessions short enough to preserve useful engagement.
- Transfer the demonstrated handling to everyday routines.
04 · Observed progress
- The handover reported improved lead manners, voluntary crate entry, obedience, recall work and reduced reactivity.
- Owner participation and confidence were recorded during the practical transfer. Long line support remained recommended while confidence developed, and no later follow up establishes that every gain was maintained.
05 · Owner transfer and maintenance
The owners' role was to keep commands consistent, reward useful responses and recognise when Rocco needed more space or an easier setting. The report treated maintenance as continuing work.
